A webcast is basically a live video broadcast of a funeral service over the internet. It allows anyone who wishes to watch and hear the service from anywhere in the world. There is no limit to the number of viewers and the transmission is viewable in any location around the world – providing the viewer has a computer and high speed internet connection (i.e. broadband).
Very simply, we broadcast a live video feed from our chapel authorised viewers will be given an access code so they can log in and watch the broadcast which begins about 20 minutes before the start of the service.
I’m just writing to express my thanks to you for making it possible for myself and my two sisters to “attend” the funeral of our beautiful Grandad. We live in Australia and were not able to make it to New Zealand for the service so I can’t begin to express my gratitude to you for making it so easy for us to be there, if only via the internet.
I had never before heard of webcasting a funeral (and to be honest, I found the whole idea a bit odd) but having just sat through the service in the comfort and privacy of my own home, I can now understand why this idea is so incredible.
So thank you again, from the bottom of my heart, for allowing us to be a part of Grandad’s final farewell.
