Company Director and Grandson of Willie Abraham

My journey with Abraham’s began back in the 1950s, when I first joined the team as a joiner, crafting caskets by hand. Over time, my role evolved, and I found myself drawn to the more personal side of funeral service — working directly with families as a funeral director and embalmer.

When Willie retired, I was honoured to take on the management of the business, helping to guide Abraham’s through a period of growth and change. Among my proudest achievements were overseeing the construction of our chapel in the early 1990s, the office complex that followed, and later, the crematorium in 2009 — each project built to better serve our community.

But more meaningful than any building or milestone has been the privilege of teaching and then working alongside my two daughters, Bronwyn and Megan. Watching them carry forward the values of care and respect that have always been at the heart of Abraham’s is something I’m immensely proud of.

Company Director and Daughter of Barrie

My sister Megan and I were brought up with death and funerals as part of everyday discussions. Death was not to be feared and was simply a part of life. From a young age I learnt that serving families who suffer a loss is a special priviledge and a truly rewarding role.

I joined my father, Barrie Head, in the family business in 1993 as an embalmer and funeral director, and hold a Diploma in Funeral Service. Married to Philip, we have two children and enjoy life on our small rural block.

I appreciate the wonders of nature we are blessed with here in Taranaki, and enjoy my garden and time at the beach.

I consider it an honour to continue the legacy of my great grandfather Willie Abaraham. I’m immensely proud of the dedicated professionals we call the Abrahams team and believe the support and service we offer families is second to none, and has been for over 95 years.

Company Director and Daughter of Barrie

I joined Abraham’s Funeral Home in 1994 after completing a Human Sciences course at our local polytech. My dad had always been a funeral director, and I knew from a young age that I wanted to be part of that tradition of giving back to families. In 1997, I took a step further and went to Wellington to earn my National Certificate in Funeral Directing. Since then, I’ve dedicated myself to supporting families through every step of the funeral process.

Though I no longer work day-to-day in the funeral home, I continue to serve as a Company Director, guiding our team and ensuring we remain dedicated to the families we serve.

Outside of work, I’m married to Mark and we have two teenage boys who keep life very full and busy

Megan and I are blessed with two teenage boys and we keep busy trail bike riding, hunting, fishing and scuba diving.

I’ve always found the funeral profession very rewarding and enjoy building relationships with the families we serve.

Funeral Director and 2IC

After 35 years of moving around New Zealand in corporate management positions, I finally found my vocation in the funeral industry when I joined the Abraham’s family in 2017.

With a passion for people, my focus has always been about building relationships and I believe it is a privilege to help families navigate their way through such a difficult time, as they farewell their loved one.

Supported by my wife and three sons I enjoy music, movies, good food, and walking. We consider New Plymouth our home town and final destination, where we look forward to serving our community in the years to follow.

Originally from the sunny Bay of Plenty, I have called Taranaki home for the last 30 years after marrying a local and raising two wonderful children in this beautiful province.

With a solid background in law as a qualified legal executive, I have spent three decades working in New Plymouth law firms before deciding to make a meaningful career change. I find deep fulfilment in supporting families through their most difficult moments and consider it an honour and privilege to walk alongside families, offering care, understanding, and professionalism.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with family and friends, walking our adorable cavoodle Louie along the coastal walkway, and staying active at the gym, and of course coffee!!

Born and bred in Taranaki, but having travelled the world, I realise that we live in a pretty special part of a pretty special country.

As a committed Christian – with 20 years pastoral experience – this industry has given me great opportunity to listen, and to care for families in times of real need.

My personal interests include coffee, food, travel, and coffee!

Happily married to Vicky and living in New Plymouth – having also lived in Okato, Eltham, and Stratford – I have five children, four of which live in the province with my three grandchildren, my roots go deep into Taranaki soil.

Qualified Funeral Director, Embalmer, and DIY/Fixer Upper

I have always been interested in lending a hand and helping people, from my time as a Volunteer Ambulance Officer through to various capacities within my church, it is what makes me tick.

I have been in the funeral industry in Taranaki since April 2002 and joined the Abraham’s team in December 2010.
Outside of work, my favourite footwear is gumboots, and I enjoy spending time with my wife and three children, and tinkering with ‘stuff’.

Funeral Director

I have been fortunate enough to raise three beautiful daughters and a pug, during which time I loved being a mum and enjoyed being involved with the school community through parent help and fundraising.

Throughout this time it became clear to me that I am passionate about people and relationships, and I thrive on being able to assist others when there is a need.

With that in mind, I decided to broaden my horizons and become a funeral director, a role that encompasses all that I value.

I cherish the time I get to work with families, at what can sometimes be, their greatest time of need. I feel privileged and humbled listening to stories about their loved ones, marking the moments in their lives to be remembered forever.

Qualified Embalmer and Crematorium Operator

Originally from Tauranga, I spent several years working in Australia’s mining industry before returning home to New Zealand to pursue a more meaningful and people-focused career. Drawn to the funeral profession’s unique blend of care, precision, and compassion, I have found it deeply rewarding to be involved in supporting families during their time of need.

I completed my National Diploma in Embalming, becoming a qualified embalmer in 2025 — a milestone that reflects the dedication and commitment required to ensuring every person in our care is treated with dignity and respect. I take great pride in the quiet, behind-the-scenes work that helps families say goodbye in a peaceful and meaningful way.

Embalmer and Crematorium Operator

Before joining the funeral profession, I worked in the hospitality industry, where I developed a love for connecting with people and making a difference in their day. Over time, I felt drawn toward a career that allowed me to care for others in a deeper and more meaningful way.

Becoming an embalmer and crematorium operator has been an incredibly rewarding journey. I take great pride in the care and respect we provide to every person who comes into our care, and in supporting families during a very personal and emotional time.

I’m currently studying towards my National Diploma in Embalming, which continues to deepen my understanding of the important work we do. Outside of work, I’m very much a family man — spending time with my loved ones is what keeps me grounded and reminds me why this work matters so much.
